INFLUENCE OF MATHEMATICS APPLICATION ON ENTREPRENEURSHIP PERFORMANCE OF FASHION DESIGNERS IN ABIA-STATE

Abstract This paper articulated the influence of the application of mathematics to entrepreneurship performance of fashion designers in Abia State. The paper however identified various ways by which fashion designers apply mathematics and the difficulties encountered by fashion designers who do not have basic mathematical knowledge in the course of discharging their duties. It identified mathematics as very useful to fashion designers and out lined mathematical concepts that fashion designers should know so as to perform better. Survey research design was adopted. Four research questions guided the study. A-20 item researcher designed questionnaire on four point rating scale named Questionnaire on Application of Mathematics to Fashion design(QAMF), was used to generate data for the study. The sample was made up of one hundred and fifty (150) fashion designers in Ikwuano Local Government Area of Abia State. Means and percentages were used for data analysis. In the findings, Mathematics was identified as very useful in entrepreneurship performance of fashion designers and its application has great influence on the performance of fashion designers. Recommendations were made one of which is that mathematics should be an integral part of fashion designers? training program.
