Abstract The effect of graphic organiser on achievement of students in graphs was investigated in this study. 151 SS2 students randomly selected from three public secondary schools in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area of Rivers State, were used in the study. Pre-test, post-test, quasi-experimental group design, was adopted in this study. The participant was divided into three groups of the control group, experimental group one (EXP1) and experimental group two (EXP2) in their intact classes. While the control group was taught with conventional strategy, EXP1 were taught with advance organiser and EXP2 with advance cum post organiser. Gender and graphing self-efficacy were used as moderating variables. Graph mastery test of 50 items with reliability coefficient of 0.78 and self-efficacy of 25 items having coefficient of reliability of 0.81 was used for data collection. The data were analysed using Analysis of Covariance and Scheffe?s post hoc test at 0.05 level of significance. The result revealed students in the EXP2 group had higher mean achievement score than the EXP1 and control group. It is recommended that graphic organiser should be used in teaching graphs and other topics in mathematics, not only as an advance organiser, but also as an advance cum post organiser to boost students? achievement.
