ABSTRACT The performance of students in Mathematics and the negative attitude of students to Mathematics has been a matter of serious concern to all stakeholders. Therefore, this study investigated the effects of collaborative methods on Senior Secondary School students? learning outcomes in Mathematics in Kwara State. The performance of students in mathematics and the negative attitude of students to mathematics has been a matter of serious concern to all stakeholders, educators and parents. To achieve this, therefore, this study adopted a quasi-experimental research design that involved pre-test, post-test control group design. The population comprised all public Senior Secondary Schools II students in Ifelodun Local Government Area in Kwara State. Three senior secondary schools out of the 23 available were randomly selected using intact classes. Four (4) hypotheses were formulated and tested. Two instruments: Mathematics Achievement Test (MAT) and Students` Attitudinal Questionnaire were used for the study. The data collected were subjected to statistical analysis of t-test at 0.05 level of significance. Independent t-test revealed that significant difference existed between the performance mean scores of students in the experimental and control groups, but there was no significant difference between male and female mean scores of the students in Mathematics. Also, significant difference existed between the attitudinal mean scores of students in the experimental and control groups, but there was no significant different between male and female attitudinal mean scores in Mathematics Achievement Test. Based on the findings of the study, it was recommended that Mathematics teachers should encourage their students to learn collaboratively. Also, the curriculum planners should include the use of collaborative instructional method in the curriculum. KEYWORDS: Collaborative Method, Students Learning Outcomes, Mathematics Education.
