Nwoke, Bright Ihechukwu Ph.D

Abstract The study investigated the impact of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) facilities on gender differentials in Mathematics achievement among secondary school students in Imo State. The population of the study consists of all senior secondary two (SS2) students in Owerri Municipal Council of Imo State Nigeria. The quasi-experimental design involving the pre-test post test non-equivalent control type was employed in carrying out the study. A sample of 225 students from 4 purposively selected secondary schools was involved in the study. The experiment group was taught Mathematics using ICT facilities while the control group was taught using the traditional approach. The data required for the study was drawn using a ?Mathematics Achievement Test (MAT)? with reliability of 0.80 determined using Pearson?s product moments correlation statistics. The data generated was analyzed using mean and standard deviation to answer research questions while the hypotheses were tested using ANCOVA at 0.05 level of significance. The result of the study revealed that ICT facilities improved students? achievement and reduced gender gap in Mathematics achievement among secondary school students. Based on the result, it was recommended that Mathematics teachers at the secondary school level should apply Information and Communication technology (ICT) facilities in teaching Mathematics to improve students? achievement.
