Abstract In an attempt to raise students? performance in the subject, many parents and students are embracing a non formal education approach to learning in form of Extra-Mural Studies. The study adopted quasi-experimental design. Two objectives, research questions and hypotheses respectively guided the study. Two groups comprising of experimental and control were involved in the study. Experimental (16 males and 14 females) and Control (13 males and 14 females). Fifty seven pupils made the sample. Mathematics performance test (MPT) with reliability of 0.71 was used for data collection. Research questions were analysed using means and standard deviations. t-test statistic was used for hypothesis testing at ? = 0.05 level of significance. The results showed that the experimental group performs better than the control group while there is no significant difference in mean performance of male and female pupils who partake in the Extra-Mural Studies. It was recommended that relevant and adequate curriculum be provided by monitoring agents to guide in the running of programmes at these centre, and government should regulate fees paid at these centres to enable many students partake in the training offered at these centres Keywords: Extra-Mural Studies, Performance and Primary School Pupils
