SECONDARY SCHOOL STUDENTS? PERCEPTION OF E-LEARNING IN THE STUDY OF MATHEMATICS AMIDST COVID-19 PANDEMIC

The objective of this research was to investigate students? perception on the usage of e-learning in the study of mathematics amidst the covid-19 pandemic. A qualitative method that applied a case study research design was applied. The participants were students of University of Nigeria Secondary School, Nsukka. A semi-structured interview was the instrument employed. Due to the covid-19 pandemic, the telephone method was used to collect data. Thematic analysis approach was employed to analyze the data. Findings revealed that the use of e-learning in mathematics learning amidst the covid-19 pandemic is helpful. Result also revealed challenges faced in using e-learning in the study of mathematics such as poor network connectivity, inadequate power supply etc. It was also found out that not all the students are participating in the e-learning amidst the covid-19 pandemic. It was as a result of the findings that recommendations were made among others that students should be trained in both primary and secondary school levels in Nigeria on the usage of e-learning in studying mathematics and in preparation for the future contingencies.
