LEVEL OF IMPLEMENTATION OF NCCE MINIMIUM STANDARD ON ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS FOR MATHEMATICS EDUCATION PROGRAMME IN SOUTH WEST GEO-POLITICAL ZONE

This study is on the level of implementation of NCCE minimum admission requirement for mathematics education programme in Colleges of Education in South-West geopolitical zone of Nigeria. Emphasis was on admission requirements of students. The research design for the study was evaluation design. The instruments used for the data collection were rating scale. The reliability coefficient of the instrument was 0.76 using Cronbach alpha. A total of one thousand five hundred and sixteen (1,516) NCE mathematics graduates were sampled from population of 2, 440 NCE graduates from 2011/2012 to 2015/2016 academic session using stratified sampling technique. Mean and standard deviation were used to answer the research questions while the hypotheses were tested using t-test at 0.05 level of significance. The results of the findings revealed that colleges of education adhered to the admission requirement as specified in the NCE minimum standard for mathematics education programme which can be adjudged to a high extent.
