ABSTRACT In this paper, factor-type estimator with known functions of auxiliary variable for finite population mean has been suggested. The suggested estimator is obtained by incorporating known function of auxiliary variable X like coefficients of skewness, kurtosis, correlation, standard deviation e.t.c. into traditional factor-type estimator. The bias and MSE of the suggested estimator have been obtained up first order approximation O(n^(-1)). The MSE of the suggested estimator is at minimum when . The result of efficiency comparisons shows that the suggested estimator is more precise than sample mean, Singh and Shukla (1993), Thakur and Gupta (2013), Jain and Shukla (2013) and Shukla et. al. (2013) when , , , , and respectively, hence empirical study revealed that the suggested estimator is more efficient.
