Abstract The effect of magnetic field parameter on the flow of a viscous fluid over a flat porous plate was considered in this paper. The governing nonlinear equation was transformed into a nonlinear ordinary differential equation using the similarity transformation. The resulting nonlinear ordinary differential equation was then solved numerically using RungeKutta shooting method. The results showed that the Darcy number and the magnetic field influenced the flow of the fluid. Keywords: Magnetic field, Viscous fluid, Porous plate
