Abstract In this paper, zero dissipative fourth order diagonally implicit Runge-Kutta Nystrom (DIRKN) methods with sparsity structure suitable for parallel implementation on two-processors for solving second order ordinary differential equations (ODEs) is proposed. The parameters in the matrix coefficients are obtained as to ensure that the resultant scheme is zero dissipative, thus possess a non-empty interval of periodicity.
