1.0 Abstract. In this paper we report a hybrid formula of order four (modified) Numerov method using matrix inversion technique for the solution of ‘special class of second order ordinary differential equation’ of the form The uniformly accurate discrete schemes were obtained from the continuous formulation by evaluating the scheme at certain points. To ensure symmetry of the method the differential system is collocated at the grid points where k is the step size and i is specifically equal to 3/2. Furthermore the solutions are obtained in block form, which makes the methods to be self starting in contrast with former idea of predictor corrector form Key word; Multi-step Hybrid formula, Second order odes, Matrix inversion.
