A SIMPLE MODEL ON THE TRANSMISSION DYNAMICS OF HEPATITIS B VIRUS INFECTION

Usaini and U. M. Abubakar

We review the model for the transmission dynamics of hepatitis B virus proposed by Ullah et al., in 2016, to address some problems in both the model formulation and its mathematical analysis. In the model formulation, we include the missing rate of immunity loss parameter (?) and correct the misinterpreted parameters as appropriate. For the model analysis, we remove the two irrelevant conditions in the theorem for the local asymptotic stability of endemic state. In fact, we prove such stability result using Center manifold theory depending on the threshold parameter R_0. Furthermore, we construct the correct Lyapunov function and prove the global asymptotic stability of the endemic equilibrium point. Keywords: Hepatitis B virus, Equilibrium points, asymptotic stability.
